I am officially deciding to stop using the term “artificial intelligence” for the work that I do. I know the industry hasn’t completely landed on a universal definition and the terms artificial intelligence and machine learning are often used interchangeably. But in my perfect world, I would like to just put artificial intelligence up on a pedestal as the pursuit of creating true awareness and understanding in machines (over-simplification of course, but for the sake of brevity). What I do, with machine learning, may lead to that some day, but right now, it’s more about using data to essentially write software logic. It is much more practical and incredibly exciting in its own right. I do think this is the direction the entire industry will eventually go, but that is only an educated guess.
